Hawaiikine
When Greg Liddle moved to Hawaii he had to make some design adjustments to adapt to wave conditions in the Islands.
The Hawaiikine reflects the changes to suit waves that are peaky and punchier and range from knee-high to 3-5 feet overhead.
Compared to the Californian designs, the outline is narrower and more curve has been added. There is also additional length and volume for buoyancy and paddling ease, and increased nose rocker for hollower waves and late take-offs.
Length range: Best 7’6” to 8’6"
Greg Liddle says:
“The design changes adapted the "modified hull" concept to small-to-medium size Hawaiian surf. This design worked well in California on similar sized surf by adding an inch or inch-and-a-half to the overall width.
In small, weak waves the Hawaiikine will still trim easily and yet be adaptable to larger surf.”
